Em Humble

BFI Short Film Fund recipient, Em Humble is a Northern writer-director-performer celebrated for her surreal, character-led humour.

She won a 2023 BFI Short Film Fund grant for her tragicomic short Chicken Girl—a festival darling that scooped awards for Best British Short, Best Leading Performance, and Best Comedy across multiple international festivals . Her online sketches have racked up over 350 million views online, featured by Hat Trick Productions, Pulped with Bits, and BBC Radio Manchester, Cumbria, and Tees.

Em’s work spans screen, stage and sound, including voicing multiple characters in the indie game Thank Goodness You’re Here!, for which she was longlisted for the 2024 BAFTA Games Awards.

Known for her sharp Northern wit, inventive visuals, and heartfelt absurdism, Em continues to write, direct, and perform across film, radio, digital and stage—solidifying her status as a leading multimedia comedy talent.

Lara Ricote

Edinburgh Comedy Award Best Newcomer Winner Lara Ricote is a Mexican-American-Venezuelan stand up comedian and writer based in Amsterdam. She won the Funny Women Stage Award in 2021 and the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer in 2022 for her debut solo show GRL/LATNX/DEF, which explores her experiences as a hard-of-hearing Latina woman.

Ricote has performed in both English and Spanish across Europe and Latin America. She has appeared on Live At The Apollo, Mel Giedroyc’s Unforgivable, Question Team, QI, Alan Davies' As Of Yet Untitled, Comedy Central Live and World’s Most Dangerous Roads. In 2024, Ricote starred in the Channel 4 Comedy Blap pilot Break Clause written by Jess Bray and directed by Alice Snedden.
