Gaza Remains The Story

06.12.2025-01.02.2026

Gaza Remains The Story is an exhibition produced by the Palestinian Museum in Birzeit that strives to inform, educate, and narrate the stories of historical locations and cultural practices in Gaza, providing a glimpse into Gaza’s arts, aspirations, and uniqueness—what remains of it in these harsh times. While the deafening noise of never-ending bombardment drowns out the daily life, heritage, artistic expression, and creativity of the people of Palestine, this exhibition strives to look behind the curtains of the theatre of war and conquest.

Gaza Remains the Story is an initiative by the Palestinian Museum in response to the global question of people who want to understand more about Palestine and Gaza after the war started in 2023. This initiative aims to provide global audiences with information and references to contextualise Gaza within Palestine, the region, and the world.

The exhibition in Leeds is hosted by sister venues joining an international network of 245 organisations that have hosted the exhibition in 47 countries:

- Hyde Park Art Club, Hyde Park Book Club, 6 December - 1 February
- HEART in Headingley 22 November - 19 December
- Sunny Bank Mills, in Farsley, 6 December - 1 February
- Holy Trinity Boar Lane, Leeds City Centre, 29 November - 19 December
- Wharf Chambers, Leeds City Centre, 6 December - 1 February
- Student Union, University campus, University of Leeds

Alongside Gaza Remains the Story, we are hosting 5 prints from Art in Ruins, an exhibition curated by artist Mohamed Harb, who selected works by four prominent fellow artists from Gaza. The five prints at Hyde Park Art Club were selected by artist and curator Saba Siddiqui and Gavin McIntosh, co-founder of Artists Supporting Palestine, from the exhibition Art in Ruins, which run between 22 November - 19 December at Heart in Headingley.  Artists Supporting Palestine host an ongoing fundraising campaign on their website by selling artworks; check it out at https://www.artistssupportingpalestine.org/.

We are also hosting NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS, a solidarity exhibition with works by Emii Alrai, Claye Bowler, Jasleen Kaur, Karanjit Panesar and Rosie Vohra. They have generously donated artworks for a fundraiser raffle in support of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/ Doctors Without Borders lifesaving medical programs in Palestine and the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Raffle fundraiser event on 17th December 6-8pm 2025.

HPAC also commissioned artist Saba Sidiqui to design a wrapping paper, which will be printed in collaboration with Lutra Studio. These hand-printed papers represent an act of support by Saba and Ellen at Lutra, who have generously donated their time and creativity. The Christmas Wrap will be sold at the Book Club in support of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).

This initiative is supported by the Leeds Palestinian Film Festival.
