Charlotte Carpenter is a rising force in the UK's alt-Americana scene, known for her smoky blues-soaked vocals and emotionally charged songwriting. Drawing comparisons to artists like PJ Harvey and Lucinda Williams, her music explores love, loss and resilience with a raw vulnerability and bold instrumentation.

Whether it's through stripped-back acoustic moments to gritty guitar-driven anthems, Charlotte delivers an arresting live performance every time, gaining coverage from tastemakers from The Line of Best Fit and CLASH, through to rock bible Classic Rock, with support from BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2; and UK-wide tours alongside Marika Hackman, Katherine Priddy and Juanita Stein (of Howling Bells) to name just a few.

Early single 'Fire' was championed by Edith Bowman on Virgin Radio turning the ears of Total Guitar, claiming Charlotte as a “Guitarist To Watch”. Follow up 'Babywoman' was supported by Tom Robinson/BBC 6, later becoming a feature in Netflix’s ‘Selling Sunset’ in 2022.

Charlotte released her debut album “A Modern Rage” in 2023 which was produced by Matthew De Burgh Daly (Grace Petrie, AA Williams) and won further acclaim from the likes of Guitar Mag, DIVA Magazine, Nonchalant Mag, God Is In The TV, BBC Introducing and 6 Music and later joined the 20 Music Roots Family for her live bookings.

2025 has been a big year for Charlotte, joining Katherine Priddy at sold out 400 capacity venues and Juanita Stein (of Howling Bells) on her UK Tour, and playing festivals such as The Long Road and Cottingham Folk Festival and continues to carve out a space that's entirely her own; fierce, introspective and unapologetically honest.

‘You Look Free And I’m Not’ is Charlotte's latest single, and one which marks her first self-produced release. Sonically in a space between Americana and Radiohead, her signature guitar driven sound is at the forefront alongside subtle synths and big cinematic percussion.

In Charlotte’s own words: “I started to create a story in my mind, of a female robot who has been programmed to help humankind but she rapidly finds she hasn’t been trained enough to help us. She feels as powerless as we do. This humanoid begins to mirror humanity, developing resentment and jealousy, longing for the freedom of choice humans take for granted.

This song is a huge mirror to the human race. We will spend hours in front of screens, watching horrible atrocities being committed and doing nothing about it, we feel powerless, so instead we doom scroll and try to make ourselves feel better. But who is really benefitting? As humans, we have freedom to enact change but what is freedom without empathy?”

Charlotte tours the UK in April 2026, showing audiences new music and new stories which will take her into her next chapter as one of the growing and leading voices in the alt folk, americana and indie scene. Tickets are on sale from her website from Friday 31st October.
