New jazz, improvisation and adventurous sounds: Sarah Heneghan Trio and Timothy Knowles et al. share an intimate Leeds double bill.

Sarah Heneghan brings her trio to Leeds following the release of her new album Tiny Sacred Gaps. A meeting point between contemporary jazz, Nordic jazz, folk, minimalism, post-rock and ambient electronics, the music is built around lyrical flugelhorn melodies (Charlotte Keeffe), gently patterned piano (Ben Gaunt) and highly textural drumming (Sarah Heneghan). Expect atmospheric soundscapes, rhythmic interplay and music that evokes landscapes, long train journeys and changing coast and countryside.

Timothy Knowles cut his teeth with nu-jazz upstarts Beyond Albedo and minimalist sensation Emergence Collective, cultivating “a voice all his own” (Whitman Review) as a guitarist and composer. Tim is joined by dynamic baritone saxophonist Martín Berger (Pitanga), incisive drummer Maeve Thorpe (Maeve Thorpe Quartet), and brilliant pianist/vocalist Antigoni Anastasiadou, performing original material inspired by Wayne Shorter, Radiohead and Scottish traditional music. Debut album, Kissa, will be released in spring 2027.
