Emil Sparkes was formed by Harry Smallwood and Jamie Deakin in 2010. Harry and Jamie were the bassist and drummer in Leeds Indie bands Samsa and Olfar. Harry (lead vocals, guitar) and Jamie (drums) are now joined permanently by long-standing collaborators Dan Potts (bass, vocals) and George Gisborne (piano, vocals).

Harry writes short, darkly comic songs about the alienation and romance of contemporary urban life; his confessional baritone vocal delivery is set hauntingly against low-fi indie-folk arrangements.

On November 29th, Emil Sparkes will be debuting music from their forthcoming new album, to follow up previous offerings The First Exile (2012, produced by Oli Deakin) and Underhand (2016, produced by George Riley).
