Dirtbag dreams: A history of mountain, ultra and trail running with Carl Morris

Tickets HERE

Over the past two decades, mountain, ultra and trail running has experienced a massive boom in participation and attention, becoming a mass activity in ways that were previously unimaginable.

In 'Dirtbag dreams', Carl Morris offers the first complete account of mountain, ultra and trail running. Revealing the sport's eccentric Victorian origins, he traces its development through 200 years of history, travelling from the Sierra Nevada and the Lake District to the streets of London and New York.

Packed with gripping races and colourful characters, Dirtbag dreams is the essential companion for anyone who wants to understand this unique endurance sport.

Carl Morris has spent much of his life climbing and moving through the mountains. Over the last decade he has become a committed fell and ultra runner, with a particular interest in 100-mile and multiday mountain racing. He is a sociologist, historian and social psychologist at the University of Lancashire.

Good Boys Film Club Presents: 'In My Skin' (2002)

Tickets HERE

Set amid Paris of the 2000s, In My Skin details the commonplace life of Esther who, at a house party, unknowingly injures herself on discarded industrial equipment, leaving a viscous wound. Obsessed with the lack of pain she experiences and fascinated by the limits of her corporeality, she delves further and further into acts of exploratory self-mutilation.

In My Skin is a ferociously violent film, wholly unashamed of committing the grotesque to screen. Needless to say, de Van does not idolise self-harm, instead employing it as simulacrum. Pasted across the porous skin of film, the act grasps fundamentally at what it is to possess a body and, tacitly, where emancipation from such constraints lies - the open wound both revolting and beautiful.

Leeds Cineforum Presents…

What could be better than an anti-capitalist film as a lead-up to Xmas? 🎄🏭

Following the recent 50th anniversary of his death, we are happy to screen Pier Paolo Pasolini's "Theorem" ("Teorema", 1968).

A handsome and enigmatic guest arrives at a respectable, wealthy household in Milan and soon seduces the maid, the son, the mother, the daughter, and the father. The sexual encounters with him provoke in each member a kind of revelation or epiphany, and when he mysteriously vanishes, the bourgeois family is left with nothing but the stark realization of their own inauthenticity.

Dialogues: a series of seminars about sustaining your arts practice.

Tickets HERE

Join artist Paul Digby for a reflective seminar exploring his Arts Council England–funded projects created in collaboration with the ICU ward at St James’s Hospital, Leeds. Through a series of drawings and sculptures, Paul captures the human stories and emotional landscapes that emerged during and after the pandemic.

This talk will trace the development of his work — from projects leading up to the pandemic to his more recent Hand Series, which continues to explore gesture, touch, and empathy. Paul will discuss how art can document shared experience, support wellbeing, and open conversations between artists, healthcare professionals, and communities.

Accessible and insightful, the seminar offers a unique perspective on creativity within care environments and the role of contemporary art in times of change.

This event is funded by Leeds City Council's Grow programme.

Book Launch: Or Something Worse

Tickets HERE

The net-zero transition isn’t saving the planet — it’s a rigged game where the rich get richer and the rest of us pay the price. Or Something Worse exposes the brutal truth: green capitalism is a scam. Soaring bills. Broken promises. A future stolen in the name of "sustainability."

Governments and corporations are waging a one-sided class war, dressing up exploitation as progress while workers struggle and communities collapse. But resistance is growing.

From “Don’t Pay” rebellions to fossil fuel blockades and community counter-planning - people are fighting back. Or Something Worse reveals how we can seize the transition, dismantle green capitalism, and build a future that works for all — not just the powerful.

This isn’t just a crisis. It’s a war.

Join author and activist Nicholas Beuret as he launches his new book in conversation with Keir Milburn, (co-author of Radical Abundance: How to Win a Green Democratic Future) and Cath Long (of the Institute for Commoning)
