Inspired by the sweet tones of Slow Pulp and the sampled textures of Sparklehorse, Leeds-based alt-rock band Alpine Reserve makes grounding music.
Hot on the heels of bouncy third single, Swamplands, Alpine Reserve release their debut EP Nightlight on 19 September; a six-track journey charting life, characterised as a halogen bulb against the deep blue darkness. Feature track Waiting for Violet is the emotional climax of the EP, where the sky’s violet blush leads us over the precipice, and into the night. Lush vocals cut through chunky bass and cracked saxophone to create this moody synth-pop ballad.
The release of Nightlight will be celebrated with a headline launch show at Leeds’ Hyde Park Book Club on 5 October, after the band previously sold-out the venue’s “Snug” earlier this year. Nightlight’s track list includes singles Marlow, which quickly reached 4000 streams, and Pale White, which was described by LA-based Get Some Magazine as “Like listening to a warm hug”.
