Bleeding Knees Club

Bleeding Knees Club burst out of Australia’s Gold Coast as a duo in 2010 with lo-fi, high-rotation triple j hits “Have Fun” and “Teenage Girls”.

“Chew The Gum” saw the ex-Gold Coast outfit relocated to Sydney via frontman Alex Wall, and with a freshly-configured band. Rolling Stone raved “The new line-up means new – welcome – depth, with the trashy bubble-gum punk title-track showing off not just a more well-rounded musical edge, but a captivating self-reflexivity from lead-man Alex Wall”. The boys completed a frenzied national tour to launch the EP that included one broken jaw and one broken ankle, and The Brag gushed “Bleeding Knees Club’s chaotic Sydney comeback show proved punk is not dead”. After carving out circle pits at festivals across Australia, the foursome saw out 2017 with their set-your-desk-on-fire anthem “Case”, which AAA Backstage frothed “This track is itching for summer like it can’t get a hold of its dealer on a comedown day … if I didn’t know any better, I’d be looking on an American Pie soundtrack for this jammer”.

Their debut 2012 album “Nothing To Do” was recorded in New York with producer Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) and was a raw and urgent set of songs about girls, getting high, and sticking it to The Man. In Australia, triple j Mag awarded it 9/10 and said it was “an album you can’t help but love”, while NME hailed the band’s “undeniable knack for turning out two-minute garage-pop songs”. Released in Australia on I Oh You, the UK on Columbia and the USA on IAMSOUND, the band traversed the globe playing SXSW, CMJ, Splendour In The Grass, Falls Festival and more, as well as shows with everyone from DZ Deathrays to The Buzzcocks, and The Black Lips to Best Coast.

Taking some time out from BKC, Alex spent 2013 to 2016 living between New York, Los Angeles and the Gold Coast, while releasing three albums on Los Angeles tastemaker label Burger Records and touring worldwide as his sci-fi punk solo project Wax Witches.

Now based back in Australia, with a new band and new label home at Inertia Music, Bleeding Knees Club have just recorded their new album with producer Lachlan Mitchell (The Jezabels, The Vines) and are ready to take it to the world.
