The Often Herd

The Often Herd appear at Hyde Park Book Club as part of their UK EP release tour. Support from Redwood River Band and People Poems.

The Often Herd reach beyond what is expected of a bluegrass band, marrying the wistful sunshine harmonies of Southern California with the striking industrial allure of their home in the North East of England. An engaging and dynamic live act, the band are able to pull off their intricately arranged material alongside moments of exciting, spontaneous improvisation. Rupert Hughes (guitar) and Evan Davies (mandolin) are responsible for penning the band’s vibrant and catchy original music. American fiddler Niles Krieger and jazz bassist Sam Quintana contribute deft and dynamic instrumental skills that lift the songs to new heights. The Often Herd will be releasing their self-titled debut EP on 23/03/18.

-Sam Sweeney (Bellowhead/Leveret)
"It’s fabulous, really exciting to listen to. Tight, virtuosic and the kind of thing you just know would be even better live!"

Redwood River Band are an acoustic trio based in Leeds featuring Simon Robinson Sounds, Naomi Moores and Alice Phelps.

People Poems is the alt-folk solo project of Leeds based musician/songwriter Harry Orme. Under the People Poems name he has toured the UK and Europe, and supported artists across the folk/indie spectrum such as Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek), Big Thief and Emily Portman.
