Madame Jazz / Freya Roy + Kashu

Madame Jazz presents Freya Roy's UK album launch tour with support from Kashu on Wednesday May 1st.

Freya Roy
MOBO's & Help Musician's supported artist Freya Roy brings her debut album 'AHLKE' UK tour to Hyde Park Book Club on May 1st where she will be performing songs from the album for the first time with her full band soon after the album's release on April 29th. Freya will be joined by UK jazz pianist and composer, David Austin Grey, drummer Greg Burns from Leeds-based Neo Soul/Afrobeat-inspired band, Necktr, and Leeds bassist Sam Williams.

Combining hip-hop, jazz and Neo-Soul Freya's sound is driven by luscious harmonies, catchy melodic hooks and soulful R&B grooves. Kicking off the release with the debut single 'Midnight Train' in February, it's easy to understand why she's receiving support from both inside and outside of the industry.
The Norwich based musician, producer and label owner has spent years patiently refining her sound throughout her studies at Birmingham Conservatoire and Leeds College of Music where she was tutored by Abstract Orchestra's musical director, Rob Mitchell.

Freya is dropping AHLKE under her independent label FCR music, founded in 2012 to help change the perception and visibility of women and minorities in the creative industries. The album has been an exciting project with the likes of some of Submotion Orchestra's top players on the record including Si Beddoe (flugel) pianist and composer Taz Modi and mix engineer Dom Howard.

2019 is set to be a big year for Freya which kicks off this spring with the release and UK tour of 'AHLKE' in April.

Olivia Bhattacharjee's (Noya Rao) exiting new originals project is set to get your soul swaying - Olivia's songwriting is captivating and unique. Keep your eyes peeled for Kashu's debut EP which has just been recorded at Henwood Studios.
