Think Tank #008: A Place For Your Head

Think Tank returns for what will be our final regular event at Hyde Park Book Club!

After careful consideration, we have decided to move the majority of our future events to a larger space (currently TBA), in order to better accommodate the increasing numbers of people wanting to attend.

It goes without saying that this decision was not made lightly - Anyone that’s been with us since the beginning knows just how much the Book Club have helped and supported us over the past 18 months, and we could not be more grateful to them for that.

In keeping with this spirit, we thought it best to close this particular chapter with a very special evening indeed!

LINEUP

J FRISCO

Considering their mesmerising set at our debut event, it seemed only fitting that we invite J Frisco back to send off the Book Club era in style!

Anyone fortunate enough to have caught them live knows just how special they are as a creative force. Using soprano saxophone, electric guitar, keyboards and vocals, J Frisco improvise genre-fluid soundscapes, drawing from personal emotions, as well as social/political issues such as gender identity and equality.

By effortlessly combining the non-linearity of Jazz, with the total immersion of Ambient, they thrive on consistently challenging both their own and their audience’s perceptions of time, space and sound.

Fresh off the back of releasing their astonishing debut album, ‘Naked’, we are very excited to see how their live set has evolved since we last saw them!

AEMAER

Aemaer is the recent solo project of Buxton based artist Nick Wade.

Steeped in a sense of nostalgia, his music uses a combination of field recordings and tape loop manipulation to provide an ethereal backdrop for delicately melancholic piano pieces.

Aemer’s debut release sees two tracks, ‘Clocks’ and ‘Light / Home’ front a double header. Whilst the former is an immersive, evolving landscape to wallow in and explore, the latter is a warm and inviting quiescence of lush melodic piano and vocal sampling.

With even more music slated for release in 2019, this is definitely one to watch!

CUIL

As an incredibly active DJ/promoter on the Leeds circuit, Cuil has already cultivated a strong reputation for curating the fantastic Stretchy Dance Supply parties, as well as his invaluable work behind the scenes at KMAH Radio

Drawing from his love of sound system culture, Cuil will be performing an exclusive live set, consisting of his own unreleased, dub-infused ambient productions.

We feel incredibly honoured that he has chosen Think Tank to debut some of this previously unheard material, and we cannot wait to see what he has up his sleeve!

ZAZU

In an unprecedented shift from her previous, almost exclusively yurt-based performances, the highly elusive Zazu will be bringing her own unique brand of atmospheric obscurities to the Tank.

Already an established powerhouse in the Leeds scene, Zazu has racked up a stream of accomplishments under her 'Luce' alias, co-founding the beautifully meditative Bath Time Sessions on KMAH Radio, whilst still finding the time to destroy almost every unsuspecting dance across the city.

The call of the yurt is never far, however, and despite her ever-growing list of achievements, Zazu continues to search for environments in which her true form can flourish.

We are very pleased that she seems to have found one with us amongst the cushions.
