Hyde Park Book Club//24th September
"Not so much a breath of fresh air - more a full force musical gale that lifts you to places you didn't know existed. A very extraordinarily gifted young man; one of the coming musical generation's front-runners in the making" – John Drummond (musician and promotor for Brewery Blues, Gloucestershire)
Henry Bateman is a musician and songwriter based in Leeds and Gloucestershire, and recently graduated from the acclaimed Leeds College of Music. Never one to be in a ‘mould’, Henry’s style has been influenced by a range of original guitarists/singer/songwriters – ranging from Michael Hedges to Peter Gabriel, Randy Newman and James Taylor.
Henry currently performs as a six-piece band, which features fellow Leeds College of Music students: Lewis Downs (guitar, vocals), Greg Burns (drums, percussion, vocals), Frazer Kerslake (bass), Chris Camm (keys, vocals), and Hannah Lamb (vocals), who are currently earning themselves a burgeoning reputation for their spellbinding live work - performing headline shows and high profile support slots around the UK.
At the age of sixteen, Henry released his debut EP ‘Open Arms’ with his album ‘Take A Form’ following in June 2015 – the latter being released to high critical acclaim, with Planet Stereo describing it as “Truly a masterpiece from beginning to end”. At the age of just 21, Henry released his second album 'Throwing & Catching' in November 2017 - with words such as 'enchanting' and 'stunning' appearing amongst rave reviews. Henry’s third solo album is due for release in Spring 2019.
